Falling For You Again - New Single

My new single on the iconic label Sirup is out now!

Hey friend,

I hope you've been well!

This week I released my new single on the iconic dance label Sirup, from Switzerland. The label is owned by EDX and has some of the biggest artists in the game on their roster. Nora En Pure, Croatia Squad, Sons of Maria, Mike Candys, Daniel Portman and many others have released amazing music on Sirup and it’s many sub-labels.

My last release with a Sirup sub-label was Oh My Love on Enormous Chills, and I have a song in a couple of months on another sub-label of Sirup (Enormous Vision, stay tuned for that!). That being said, I am super stoked and honoured to appear on their main imprint this week with my buddy Jay Bird who I last collaborated with on our song Call On Me.

This song Jason and I started almost 2 years ago, and it had a different vocal at the time. We worked on the instrumental for a while until we were happy with it, and then we hired an amazing singer to replace the vocal we had.

After getting back her vocal parts we now needed to get the instrumental to as high of a quality as the vocal was because it really exposed how much our song needed work.

When we began pitching this song we were excited and thought this one would get picked up right away, but we faced dozens of rejections over more than a year of pitching. After we hit a wall, we decided maybe the song needed reworking, so I talked to another producer I was working with at the time and he decided to make a new instrumental to this vocal. It sounded great!

Then we started pitching that new version and again it was getting denied left and right. At this point we all kind of gave up on the song and figured it wouldn’t see the light of day.

A while later I got a message from Jason saying that he went back to the original version we had and fixed it up a bit and sent it off to Sirup, and they LOVED IT! I didn’t even know this song still had potential as I thought we had tried everything. Thankfully Jason believed in it and pulled it all together in the eleventh hour!

It feels like I am having this experience a lot lately. Thinking a song is amazing, only for 20+ labels to say no. This is the 3rd single in a row that had this experience, and I just signed one this week to an amazing label (Loud Memory) and it too took MONTHS of rejections before we found a great home for it.

If there is one thing I have learned through all of these songs lately, it’s that you may think that you have lost the battle, maybe it’s time to throw in the towel on this song, or project, but keep pushing and you may just find that there is a light on the other side.

Resistance shows up right when you feel like you’ve done your best work to try and test you, push you into giving up. It is right in these moments where we feel like giving up that the magic is found. It is perseverance when the voice in your head tells you that you suck. It is a belief in your song, book, etc even when the outside world seems to not get it. Someone will, but only if you don’t let that demon in your mind convince you to scrap it. I find that I am always the most proud of myself when I have pushed through these moments of self-doubt and put my work out into the world.

With that being said, I would love if you could go stream my new song Falling For You Again, and let me know what you think!

 Take care my friend,

- Niko
