Eudaimonia - The Good Life

Happiness, Well-Being, and Flourishing

Hey friend,

I hope you've been well!

Life has been a wild ride for me this summer! So many amazing things have happened, and it just feels like they keep getting better. I find that things happen and I have a tendency to just keep moving, but upon looking back it’s crazy to see how much has been accomplished! Here is a brief summary of my summer so far!

  • I finally got supported by one of my biggest inspirations, Nora En Pure

  • Good With the Bad just passed 2 million streams on Spotify

  • My song Even just passed 250,000 streams on Spotify

  • I was named Electronic Artist of the Year at the Fraser Valley Music Awards in my hometown

  • Worked my 6th Shambhala Music Festival as an Off-Site Driver, driving some of my favourite artists to and from the airport (Dimension, Dillon Francis, Ganja White Night).

  • Had over a DOZEN songs get added to multiple music libraries

  • Went to Odesza at The Gorge

  • Saw Swedish House Mafia, Kx5, John Summit, Nora En Pure and many more at Fvded in the Park

To say that this summer has been an exciting one, would be a vast understatement!

But, to easily top all of that off, I recently found out that I am going to be a dad!

This next chapter in my life feels like an adventure that’s just about to start. What will they be interested in? Will they like to read books? My dad read deep philosophical books to me while I was a baby and it clearly influenced the man I became. I will definitely be reading lots of books to my kids! To be raised in a world of mythology, heroes and dragons, is to fill a child with wonder, and give their mind a structure that they can relate to in hard times.

Will they want to learn to produce music like their dad? Will the shiny, flashy knobs and lights draw them in to play with synthesizers and tinker on the piano? I hope so. I know that I will definitely try to raise them in the studio, and I look forward to the day that we can jam together or collaborate on music!

Will they like hiking and being in nature as much as their parents? We plan on taking our kids on lots of trips, to the tops of incredible mountains, to the coldest glacial lakes, to the depths of the Grand Canyon, and teach them about the rhythms of nature. To see the world through their eyes will be like living life all over again.

Will they be interested in training Jiu Jitsu? I feel like every kid could use some self defence knowledge and BJJ is about as good as it gets, especially for kids. By the time they are old enough to train I will probably already have my black belt, and it would be fun to raise them in a Gi, just like I was.

I feel like I am finally ready psychologically and financially for this next step in life, and I’m really grateful that we were so lucky to have it work out this way!

There is a term in ancient Greek that meant the living of a good life, a life of fulfillment, and living in tune with your virtues. Eudaimonia.

I suppose there is no better way than that to summarize where I feel in life at the moment. Content, proud, fulfilled, grounded, excited for the future.

Life is good!

 Take care my friend,

- Niko
